Preparations for the Diani Beach Touch Rugby Tournament are well and truly underway as Forty Thieves Beach Bar and Restaurant gets ready to host this year's edition in two months time.
Dates 27th, 28th and 29th of July 2018 have been picked as the most suitable for the tournament which will mark its tenth edition when the clock hits 8:00pm on July 27.
It will retain its original format where matches are played on Friday night before resuming during the day on Saturday with the finals being played in the morning hours of Sunday to allow for the prize giving ceremony later that afternoon.
To celebrate ten years since its inception, the main cup trophy has been renamed to George Barbour Cup as a mark of gratitude to the South Coast Pirates founder and chairman George Barbour whose efforts of growing the game in Kwale County continue to scale new heights each day.
Academy Warriors were crowned champions of the previous edition after defeating Forty Thieves 1-0 in a thrilling final where both teams drew players from the South Coast Pirates playing unit. It was yet another final involving SCP teams after SCP I and SCP II had a go at each other during the 2016 cup final.
Registration of teams is ongoing.
