South Coast Pirates are scheduled to host Mombasa RFC in a second preseason friendly set for 27th October 2018 at St. Joseph, Ukunda.
Following a 13-10 defeat during the first friendly played at Mombasa Sports Club, Pirates will welcome their arch-rivals Mombasa to the south coast hoping for a reversal of fortune after a late penalty sealed the victory for Mombasa in the friendly played on October 13th.
Midfielder Charles Tendwa and Sudi Hussein scored the points for SCP during that occasion but a late penalty to Mombasa proved disadvantageous for Pirates, whose quest to claim the George Barbour Memorial Cup is expected to receive a huge boost given the hosting of the second and final leg.
The match will be the first preseason friendly which Pirates have hosted prior to the start of the 2018/19 Championship season and the trophy will be feted to the team which possesses the highest aggregate score between the two.
SCP have played only two preseason matches so far; winning 27-14 at Malindi RFC before the agonising three point defeat to Mombasa a little under a fortnight ago.
The team had also been scheduled to face Pwani Sharks last Saturday but the friendly did not go as planned, thereby prompting the head coach Lawrence Buyachi to call for a whole day training session as the players continue to prepare for the third edition of the Championship, which begins with a home tie against Egerton Wasps on 17th November.
