Back line pair emerge club's top try scorers

The club's top try scorer award is set to be awarded to a pair of back line players following the culmination of South Coast Pirates' Championship campaign which ended in a 24-5 loss to Egerton on April 14.

The two, Kevin Amiani and Joseph Musyoki ended the season with four tries a piece and will receive individual accolades in a customary end of season awards ceremony to take place before the start of the 2018/19 season.

It had to take until the final weekend of the Championship for us to publish an updated try scorers list after Musyoki scored the lone try in our defeat to Egerton. The promising fullback did not only score the game's opening try but also rounded off our try scoring spree which amounted to twenty six tries this season.

Another interesting point to note is it was Musyoki who set the tone for our try scoring exploits when he landed Pirates' only try during the 27-8 defeat to Mean Machine after JKUAT had failed to show up for the season's curtain raiser a week earlier.

For Amiani, a try against University of Eldoret and another against JKUAT as well as the brace of tries he landed when Catholic Monks toured the south coast was enough to place him as a firm favorite for the award heading into the final game last week.

The pair are followed closely behind by Steve Bosire and Ramtu Hassan, both with three tries to their names and Charles Tendwa who has touched down twice this season.

Humphrey Lugara, Derrick Mambili, Charles Okwemba, Ibrahim Kanyi, Oscar Agutu, Hajj Mohammed, Timothy Osija, Collins Shikuku and Clinton Machero all grabbed a try each while there was also a penalty try awarded during the 31-24 win over Catholic Monks in December.
